Swilcza is a rural commune in the Podkarpackie voivodship, in the Rzeszów county. It is located about 11 kilometers east of Rzeszów, by the road to Krakow. Swilcza stretches to 18.6 km2, it is inhabited by about 3,100 inhabitants. It is the second largest (after Bratkowice) village of the commune. It is located in lowland agricultural and fruit areas.

The history of the village dates back to the 14th century and was focused on the development of the parish there, and as a thriving economically and socially settled village, it distinguished itself by wealth and civic attitude in the wider area.

Swilcza is an old, over six hundred-year-old settlement, whose roots date back to the fourteenth century. Its original name was Svincza. From the very beginning of its existence, Swilcza was associated with Rzeszów. She belonged to the vast goods of Jan Pakoslawica - the first master in Rzeszów, followed by his successors. Historically, Swilcza is also an old parish. The metrics match the establishment of a settlement. At the same time, it was a very large and populous parish. During its long history, Swilcza, a dynamically prosperous and social settlement, was distinguished by wealth and civic attitude in the broadly understood area. In feudal times, it belonged to the distinguished magnate families: Ostrogscy, Lubomirski and Potocki, at the turn of the 18th and the 19th century, it passed into the hands of the Skarbek-Borowtski Counts. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a few hundred hectares of court property was bought by Jews and parceled out, giving inhabitants  the opportunity to expand their farms and thus increase their wealth.

The face of modern Swilcza has been shaped by many investments undertaken in the next decades of the second half of the twentieth century. These were mainly entry-level but also monumental ventures such as: electrification, gasification, melaorisation, telephonisation, and sewerage. There were investments of cultural, educational and religious objects: church, school, kindergarten, fireman's home, etc.

Currently, it is a dynamically developing village, with an ever-increasing number of inhabitants - a constant inflow of urban population, moving to calmer rural areas from the city.

The idea of the project

The Recreational Centre with Racket-sport section "Carpatia" was inspired by contemporary Danish architecture. It is the quintessence of what is human: creating community, functionality, useful and sustainable technological solutions, caring for the right aesthetics, mirroring the human desire for intimate contact with the world, being part of the untouched nature and benefiting from its benefits.

The essence of Danish housing today is to blend in with the surroundings, use its values, highlight the beauty of nature, which coherently interacts with the solids of buildings.

The aim of the project was to design a sports and recreation center and to develop a huge plot of land with unlimited possibilities, so as to fully use their extraordinary potential. Excellent location - the vicinity of a large village and town guarantees year-round interest in the complex.
The recreational center with various amenities has been enriched with a section for rocket sports and training rooms.

The resort's offer would include:

I. Recreation area:

The designed complex has been located away from the hustle and bustle, noise, other buildings and busy streets. Designed in the midst of a great open space, surrounded by greenery and fields, in the immediate vicinity of the forest, so that guests can not only use the amenities offered in the recreational and sports center, but also are able connect with nature.

The proximity of the fields ensures the self-sufficiency of the complex, allowing all necessary crops and independent agricultural production. In addition, part of the huge arable plot of land could be developed for a solar farm, thanks to which the building would become energy self-sufficient.

In front of the building there is a parking lot for cars and buses, separated from the building by flower discounts. A wide square leads to the main entrance, enriched with flower beds, flower pots and a long, shallow water canal with seats.

Plot development was inspired by English gardens and parks, based on a free layout, with lots of high greenery. The whole complex is surrounded by a park where native tree species were used. Birches, beeches and oaks were chosen because of their modern appearance as well as historical values. The whole complex is surrounded by a road so as to allow the easiest access to every corner of the plot. In addition to creating a walking space available for guests, recreational areas, e.g. a picnic area, as well as a fitness track and playground have been designed, which give visitors an opportunity to spend free time actively also outdoors. Right next to it there is a buffet with sanitary facilities.

From the north side, a wide gravel square with high and low greenery stripes leads to the building, where guests can relax and rest.

Building design

The proposed assumption was inspired by the designs of modern buildings inscribed in the area and landscape.

The building has been divided into two parts:

1. The sports zone located under the change has been covered with a green flat roof with different coverage.

2. The solid of the recreational part of the building is modern and unconventional. The shapes of the pyramids refer to the diverse relief of the Podkarpackie region. The building, covered with green roofs, despite its huge dimensions, perfectly fits into the surrounding greenery. Flexible vinyl façade panels imitating oak wood in a warm shade were used to emphasize the cut-outs and entrance zones of the building. The economical simplicity of the materials used makes the complex stand out against the backdrop of the landscape at the same time perfectly matching it and diversifying its flat character.

The unusual shape combined with modern drainage and storage systems for rainwater and solar energy guarantees high self-sufficiency.
Numerous glazing designed in the building correspond with the surroundings and illuminate huge interiors, and also add lightness to the solids and blur the border between the interior and the greenery.

The entrance area of the building has been emphasized by additional wooden roofing and panels on which the logo of the center has been placed - they attract the attention and direct the visitors.

The functional plan of the complex has been arranged so that the use of buildings is comfortable and logical. The building has been divided into two parts.

The recreation area located above the ground, was based on the honeycomb concept. The interiors of the building were laid out on the plan of irregular hexagons, which created a clear and simple arrangement of zones. From the great lobby you can go to other zones.

The swimming pool zone, with sports, recreational, thermal and health pools as well as slides and a children's area, based on an open plan and illuminated with roof skylights with an impressive roof structure, gives you the opportunity not only to relax and have fun, but also to admire the building's structural solutions.

Next to the swimming pool zone, the Saunarium has been designed - an exclusive sauna zone offering dry and steam saunas, cooling tanks, ice and salt caves, aromatic sessions while maintaining all standards of sauna construction and heating.

Another created zone is the SPA offering a wide range of relaxation and health services and treatments as well as a relaxation zone from which you can admire the beautiful surroundings of the building.

A medical clinic where you can get diet and training advice, first aid in the event of an accident and a rehabilitation clinic with the necessary facilities for rehabilitation rooms and specialized equipment, additionally enriches the building and completes the complexity of services rendered.

After returning to the lobby, you can go to the modern restaurant located in the western part of the building, from where there is a wonderful view of the recreational square and park.

The sports zone located under the change was designed on a simple rectangular plan. The spaces created in it are large and open due to the function of racket sports fields, training rooms and gyms. Wide corridors surrounded by glazing allow you to relax while waiting for your turn and free observation of trainings and players. The sports zone has two additional evacuation cages overlooking the roofs above the building.

In both zones - for recreation and sports, the necessary sanitary facilities were also created - cloakrooms, bathrooms, showers, as well as hygienic and economic facilities - warehouses for cleaning products, dirt traps, etc., and social facilities for employees of the complex.

The whole is completed by a climbing zone, combining a recreational and sports area, which can be admired in the lobby.

The building has been adapted to the needs of the disabled and injured.
