100 Trees for 100 Years of Independence

Separated from the areas designated for single-family housing, the area of the planned park is, due to its location as well as natural and landscape values, an extremely valuable and original place.

The implementation of the functional and spatial solutions proposed in the concept is a chance for a new, attractive public space in Kolbuszowa, consistent in terms of urban planning, architecture and landscape.

The first aim of the park was the unique celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland's Independence, by creating the Independence Avenue and planting a hundred trees in the park. The second aim was to create a place for recreation and relaxation, addressed primarily to the residents of the city, the area of permeation of the space of nature and cultural space.

The basic functions of the designed park are:

  • relax - walking routes of great diversity and scenic values including nature trail along the existing watercourse, view enclaves, relaxation places equipped with various types of seats, picnic areas;

  • recreation - playgrounds for children, water curtain, trampolines;

On the basis of the analyzes carried out, including the possibility of using local natural conditions and the natural potential of the place in combination with the designated objectives and program assumptions, a wide two-row Oak Alley, along the southern border of the plot, was adopted as the core of the composition system. The alley is the most representative part of the park. It is emphasized by designed along the planting of decorative grasses and shrubs, and they complement the elements of small architecture and lighting.

An arrangement of other alleys, squares and recreation areas such as playgrounds, picnic areas, etc. was linked to the Oak Aley.

At the height of the existing ditch, the Oak Alley separates into two parts, a representative square with a rectangular water reservoir. It has been placed on the north-south axis of the park, which naturally marks the existing ditch with flowing water. Additional water reservoirs are located along the ditch, and its banks will also be properly managed.

The main interior of the park is a large recreational lawn, adjacent to playgrounds and picnic areas.

The remaining natural part of the park is filled with a flower meadow with a wooden walking path through it. In places of intersection with a water channel and a natural watercourse, which occurs in this area and is an extremely valuable natural value, the path also plays the role of footbridges. Due to its shape, which is a graphic representation of a tree, it is also a recognizable "sign" of the park, a symbolic reference to the idea of a 100 trees park for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Independence.
